The garden of cosmic speculation in Scotland ranks first among the most unusual gardens in the world. It was created by American landscape architect Charles Alexander Jenks in 1989 in the city of Dumfries. His wife, Maggie Keswick, a specialist in the gardens of Japan and China, received the 1988 Portrack House as an inheritance. Together they decided to build a miniature of the entire universe – to combine botany with mathematics, astronomy, geometry, physics, chemistry, and to translate these ideas into landscape design.
